Ok time to take a break from bigging-up our show presence, talking about the number of Microsoft-sponsored buses floating around New York, the million and one floor dots all over the NRF show floor (yes the competition has already commented to me that the floor dots were a good move) and let you all know about today's Microsoft Dynamics ERP press release centered on the announcement of a new Dynamics ERP retail solution.
Building on our Dynamic Business vision and commitment of continued investment in the retail space we introduced Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail a new end-to-end retail solution designed for mid-sized specialty retailers at NRF today. The new solution offers retailers a deep level of integration across point of sale, store management, supply chain, merchandising and financials to address business productivity while enhancing customer service in a single solution (let me underline single solution…all on the same platform…yes so not across multiple applications like so much of the competition talks about when they say 'end-to-end')
Without getting on my soapbox and shouting to the heavens about how great Microsoft is, I am sure that retailers are going to love the fact that we have a true end-to-end solution (yes I am mentioning that again) as well as the close integration possibilities Microsoft Dynamics AX for retail will offer with additional Microsoft products such as Windows 7, Microsoft Office, Microsoft SharePoint Server and SQL Server. Coupled with the easy to use interface and breadth of leading partners already recruited to take this solution to market retailers will be able to gain even more insight into customer behavior, apply it to optimize their entire chain of operations from sales to supply and all at a low total cost of ownership with partners that know and understand the retail business.
As Crispin Read, general manager, Microsoft Dynamics ERP explains “Our goal is to realize the Dynamic Business vision in the retail industry. By enabling a truly connected retailer experience through a single, end-to-end Microsoft-provided solution, customers can lower the total cost of ownership, reduce complexity and improve the accuracy of information, all vital in today’s evolving retail environment,”.
