The Summer 2011 issue of Touch, Microsoft's quarterly enterprise customer magazine for the EMEA public sector, is out now! Building on the success of the launch edition last quarter, this issue is packed to the rafters with information about the latest and greatest technology developments being made by Microsoft and its partners to enable public sector organizations to do more with less, and continue to meet and exceed citizens' expectations. In the cover story, City of Utrecht explains how it is working with Microsoft partner Logica to trial a particularly innovative way of managing its public facilities – using everything from Microsoft Windows Azure to run its applications in the cloud, Bing Maps to see road and satellite views of the city, and Windows Phone 7 devices to manage operations on the go. Other hot topics in this issue include the Connected Government Framework and data security in the cloud.
Here in the Microsoft Dynamics ERP team, we're particularly excited about the upcoming release of Dynamics AX 2012, which comes complete with a whole host of industry-specific capabilities for the public sector. Due for general release in August this year, there's a great buzz across the industry about it, with many partners and early adopters already calling it a truly revolutionary solution for public sector organizations. You can find out more in a special interview with our very own Charlie Johnson, global industry product director, on page 40, where he tells the editor about the impact he expects Dynamics AX 2012 to have on the industry.
