Using mobile devices to stay connected to the office while traveling is not a new phenomenon, but workers have been limited in just how much they can do via phone or tablet.  It’s one thing to be able to check email, but in today’s world, using devices to consume content is not enough. People are increasingly expected to be productive as well when they're not tied behind their desk. However simply offering a desktop experience on a mobile devices won't enable organizations to reap the full benefit of the opportunities with 'mobile' scenarios. Today, at the Microsoft Business Mobility event in NYC, Microsoft showcases how customers and partners are going through the mobile transformation without compromise.

In the execution of Microsoft Devices & Services strategy, Microsoft Dynamics continues to invest in targeted experiences across different mobile devices (phones and tablets) for our Dynamics CRM and Dynamics AX enterprise applications.  In the latest versions of Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Microsoft Dynamics AX, we're turning those expectations in to reality by enabling the following out-of-the box scenarios: 

  • Providing business insights to executives. Enabling managers and executives to stay on top of the business performance, regardless of where they are. The latest release of the Business Analyzer app provides an immersive and role based experience optimized to consume  different sorts of business intelligence data from their Microsoft Dynamics AX  2012 enterprise application,  allowing them to connect with coworkers in context of the data through integrated Lync capabilities.

  • Empowering the mobile sales professionals – with the release of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 earlier this month, we provide out-of-the box mobile capabilities that enables mobile professional to stay connected to the sales process, so they can  easily communicate with their customers through integrated Skype capabilities, all on their favorite tablet;

  • Empower retail store sales associates – we have distinctly focused on mobile applications to  empower retailers to deliver a personal and seamless shopping experience for customers whether they are online, in a store or on their mobile devices. With the upcoming release of MS Dynamics AX 2012 R3, we'll deliver a new clientelling application optimized for the use on tablets and phones, empowering in-store sales associates to better engage with consumers on the store show floor. A great showcase of this investment is Delta Airlines, which will utilize the mobile clientelling capability with Nokia smartphones and Microsoft Dynamics for Retail to improve its in-flight customer experience operations

  • Cutting back on administrative burden with self-service experiences – as we announced in March of this year, we've provided a set of apps across tablets and smart phones to:
    • manage expenses to help workers both capture and reconcile expenses while traveling, cutting down time and effort.  This means  getting money back more quickly as well as helping organizations implement expense policies more seamlessly
    • capture time on  projects 'on the go', simplifying this administrative burden while providing businesses the opportunity to improve working capital through decreased billing cycle times
    • enable managers to approve business requests like budget requests, time sheets, submitted expense reports and purchase requisition to cut down on administrative task and time spend
  • Enable "Build your own app"innovation –  our customers and partners are looking to develop innovative new apps that serve their specific business needs, we continued investments in our APIs utilizing ODATA web service standards as well as documentation and examples through Software Development Kits (SDKs) for Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Microsoft Dynamics AX

Creating solutions for the mobile reality has never been more important, both for Microsoft as well as our customers. Today, nearly eight in 10 workers spend at least some of their time working out of the office, according to Forrester Research. Three of those 10 workers are currently considered to be fully mobile “anytime, anywhere information workers” who use three or more devices, work from multiple locations, and use lots of apps. Mobile technology has become an extension of the worker as much as it is for the consumer, enterprise applications must keep up.  We are committed to make the right investments in Microsoft Dynamics to provide enterprise applications that meet the increasingly mobile needs of our customers.
