Microsoft GovCon Alliance strengthens solutions for federal government contractors

As federal budgets continue to be cut, as compliance becomes even more important, and as competition grows, now more than ever, government contractors need to operate more efficiently and respond more quickly as they comply with myriad regulatory requirements.  They need business solutions that are agile, designed to help them grow and give them the most value for their investment.

For federal contractors looking for a better balance of compliance and agility, today we announced the formation of the Microsoft GovCon Alliance.  The alliance brings together a cross-section of partners with deep experience and understanding of the needs of government contractors, giving our customers more choices in solutions and partners that can help them meet their business objectives.

While Microsoft Dynamics AX has already helped large enterprises simplify administration, improve visibility into operations, and enable more agile responses to changing business conditions, industry-aligned solutions are needed to address the unique blend of requirements established by FAR, DFARS, CAS, DCAA and DCMA. Microsoft already offers capabilities for small and midsize businesses that support compliance with these regulatory and agency requirements — Microsoft Dynamics SL, a great project management offering for relatively simple businesses, and Microsoft Dynamics NAV with a partner extension to enable compliance across multiple legal entities — but complex government contracting enterprises need multi-industry and multi-entity capabilities across both private and public sector business operations.

To help these large government contractors adopt solutions that optimally fit their specific needs, we’re working with ISV partners with domain expertise in pure hours-based professional services (e.g., management consulting and IT services), hours and materials-oriented structural design, building and maintenance services (the architecture/engineering/construction or AEC value chain), and high-tech or discrete manufacturing. These partners have built key capabilities to support cost plus project accounting and other fundamental government contractor requirements within Microsoft Dynamics AX.  These capabilities offer our customers a “better fit” solution on Microsoft Dynamics AX than we could deliver directly with a one-size-fits-all approach.

To ensure that our customers get the highest level of quality support, we are starting this program with a select set of partners who have successfully engaged customers, have shown demonstrable growth and are committed to ongoing investment in market-specific competencies and capabilities.

We are excited to kick-off this program and believe it will deliver immediate choice and value to our customers.
