As you’ve probably heard Satya Nadella say since he became CEO, “At our core, Microsoft is the productivity and platform company for the mobile-first and cloud-first world. We will reinvent productivity to empower every person and every organization on the planet to do more and achieve more.”
We often get asked what this means for Microsoft Dynamics. One area is the role Dynamics plays in helping organizations reinvent business processes to be more productive. Satya talks about how business productivity is about bringing together individual productivity, team or group productivity and business process productivity. And, Microsoft is unique in that we provide powerful tools across this full spectrum, from Office productivity tools and Power BI, a hyper scale Cloud platform in Azure and Dynamics for modern business apps.
Dynamics plays a particularly important role in bringing these components together to help organizations improve business process productivity. We do this with the applications we deliver in our core products – ranging from sales productivity, marketing and customer service to finance, retail commerce, supply chain and operations. We also do this by providing a powerful business process platform that helps customers and partners rapidly configure and extend the out-of-the-box applications to meet unique requirements for their industry or business environment.
Some great examples of customers who are using Dynamics today to reinvent their business processes are New Belgium Brewery, Trek Bicycles, Mattress Firm, City of Barcelona and Metro Bank. In each example, these organizations are using Dynamics to reinvent business processes and transform how they operate to be more productive and deliver better service to their customers.
With Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2015, we are taking this a step further by enhancing our business process platform, and by releasing Industry Templates that kick start customer implementations.
The enhancements to our business process platform (referred to as xRM) include the ability to add near real-time calculations and roll-ups for business information, branching of processes based on business rules and client API that allows users to control the information displayed to users based on business needs.
We are especially excited about the work our teams are doing, with input from customers and partners, to develop Industry Templates for Microsoft Dynamics CRM. The Industry Templates leverage xRM and include a data model, relevant business processes, industry specific business rules, automated workflows and some sample data. We began developing templates with the CRM 2013 release. By the end of this calendar year, we plan to release the following Industry Templates:
