No doubt you’ve noticed it: your workforce is skewing younger. In fact, millennials (those born between 1980 and 1995) are expected to make up more than 50 percent of the workforce by 2020. This generation works hard, and they work in a way that many workplaces haven’t seen before. In order to attract and retain top millennial talent, businesses must transform the core dynamics of their workplace.

A few broad strokes: millennials value collaboration. They value speed, flexibility, and transparency. They prefer open (social) networking through feeds, versus closed (email) communication. They are savvy, globally-minded, and they value teamwork in inspired work environments. Millennials demand agile tools that propel innovation and enable them to work in new dimensions. They don’t have the patience for old ways of work.

In order to shift your culture to adapt to the way people prefer to work, you’ll want to use tools that allow your employees to work the way they want without sacrificing productivity. Together, Office 365 and Microsoft Dynamics provide a rich toolkit of collaboration and productivity tools. They give people better insight into data to inform fast decision-making. They allow teams to collaborate more effectively via feeds, share files and tools dynamically, and work more efficiently from wherever they are, and however they want to work.

On the December 2 episode of Modern Workplace, we will talk to three leaders from the millennial generation about the impact that millennials are having on business and what organizations must do to adapt.

Ben Rattray, Change.org Founder and CEO, will talk about his experience as a trailblazing entrepreneur and what organizations need to do right now to create a culture where millennials can work the way they like to work. David Burstein, author of Fast Future: How the Millennial Generation is Shaping Our World, will explain how millennials work differently and why businesses must adapt to support this new generation’s speedy and collaborative work style. And Asha Sharma, Chief Marketing Officer of Porch.com, will reveal how her organization has created a culture in which millennials feel valued and businesses can attract and retain top millennial talent.

The next live show airs Tuesday, December 2nd from 8-8:30 a.m. PST, with a second viewing and live chat at 5:00pm PST. Join us for a live Q&A with our guests and Microsoft Product Managers.
