Guidelines for Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, Tier 4, and Tier 5 environments deployed in Microsoft’s subscription

Customers who purchase a Dynamics 365 for Operations or Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Enterprise edition subscription can deploy a Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, Tier 4, or Tier 5 environment in the LCS Implementation project provisioned for their tenant and use it for development and testing. Though the customer has admin access to these environments, these environments are deployed in Microsoft’s subscription because these online services are managed by Microsoft. The following guidelines ensure that the environments are protected.

  • On the above-mentioned environments, Automatic Windows Update is enabled by default and should NOT be disabled. This ensures that anytime Microsoft pushes security or critical infrastructure updates to your environment, your environment receives the latest set of patches.
  • All environments must be patched each month with the OS patches that Microsoft releases.
  • Changing the admin passwords on these environments is NOT allowed. Environments that have admin passwords changed will be flagged by Microsoft. Microsoft reserves the right to reset the password.
  • Adding new user accounts to the above mentioned VMs is NOT permitted. Microsoft reserves the right to clean up the newly added user accounts.

Helping you protect your environments is one of our highest priorities.
