Microsoft Dynamics 365 Blog

Not too long ago I was installing a Dynamics AX 4.0 AOS on a 64bit Windows Server 2008.

After the Dynamics AX Setup was finished I was however unable to start the Server Configuration Utility because of the following error:

Activation context generation failed for dla “C:\DYNAX\40\Server\Common\AxSrvCfg.exe”. Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFC,processorArchitecture=”x86″,publicKeyToken=”1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b”,type=”win32″,version=”8.0.50727.42″ could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.

The reason for this message issue was that the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x64) was not installed on the Server. After installing, the error did no longer occur.
