Microsoft Dynamics 365 Blog

We recently discovered an issue that was researched by Sustained Engineering.

If you try to use the reverse engineering tool in the AOT you may see:

“Method ‘add’ in COM object of class ‘IVDocuments’ returned error code 0x86DB09C6
(<unknown>) which means:  File not found.”

We are able to reproduce this error in house when Visio Standard is installed on the
workstation. If we install Visio Professional we are able to use the reverse engineering tool.

Sustained Engineering provided the following “The version of Visio needs to support UML and Database
(Entity-Relationship) modeling. Visio Standard does not support these features,
hence will not work with the reverse engineering tool. The Professional or
premium version of the Visio should be used.”

The official documentation will be updated to reflect this in the future.

We're always looking for feedback and would like to hear from you. Please head to the Dynamics 365 Community to start a discussion, ask questions, and tell us what you think!
