We recently managed a support request where the following issue occurred: Inventory adjustment does not inherit the financial dimension of source transaction. Therefore, since this dimension is mandatory on account structure an error is received.
The reasons of the issue could be many and can be hypothesized and summarized as follows:
i) Item transactions posted without a Financial Dimension (with the “allow blank” parameter in Account Structure activated for that dimension).
ii) Activation of the “allow blank” parameter in Account Structure.
iii) Inventory recalculation (that looks at the financial dimensions of the original transactions) goes in error because dimensions are missing for transactions posted at point i)
iv) Item transactions posted with the Financial Dimension (with the “allow blank” parameter in Account Structure deactivated for that dimension).
v) Inventory adjustment, posted without the financial dimension because of the Bug solved by KB 2778868
vi) Inventory recalculation (that looks at the financial dimensions of the original transactions + the adjusted transactions) goes in error because dimensions are missing in the adjustments done at point v)
1) Install KB 2778868 to avoid what described at point v) above.
2) Run Inventory recalculation/settlement activating the “allow blank” parameter in Account Structure
3) (optional) adjust the transactions created at point 2 in the G/L manually using a Journal, reversing the transaction with blank dimension and inserting an equal transaction with a dimension value different than blank.
3) Deactivate again the “allow blank” parameter in the Account structure for the future (to avoid what described in the two assumptions above and to always have the dimensions correctly fulfilled in the Ledger vouchers).
