This is a follow-up to a previous article I wrote about modifying labels and strings in Enterprise POS. The process is similar in Modern POS (MPOS) and Cloud POS (CPOS) but different enough that a new article is warranted.
Dynamics AX For Retail Enterprise POS (EPOS) has functionality to email receipts but the implementation of the feature has a few tradeoffs: Email does not get sent immediately at the conclusion of the transaction.
The address book is not a new concept to AX, but in AX 2012 the use of the address books to associate customers was added to retail stores. In working with this topic I have noted and recommend being on at least CU3 for AX 2012 for this to work properly.
This is a follow-up from my previous post AX for Retail 2012 R2: Installing the Real-time Service and should give you some tips if you run into problems installing and configuring the Real-time Service.
[Note: Please see the companion article for Troubleshooting Tips for the Real-time Service.] Possibly the biggest change with AX for Retail 2012 R2 is the re-architecting of the Retail Transaction Service. The first thing you will notice is that the name has been changed: Retail Transaction Service is now Commerce Data Exchange: Real-time Service.
Edit (2013-10-08): The code snippet for 2012 R2 is slightly different. See the update below. There are a number of places in AX for Retail POS where manager approval is needed to perform a task. You may have noticed one of these when trying to exit the application.
We recently had a scenario where a customer wanted to be able to start the POS in training mode directly from an shortcut instead of having the user go in and select training mode from the menu. They would then have two icons for POS: one for “live” operation and one for training.
Synchronization issue between Offline database and Store database Issue description We recently had a case where an offline POS refused to sync transactions to the store database after it came back online. This retail systemconsisted of a centralized store database and an offline database for each of the POS machines.
