Today, I'd like to help call your attention to some exciting new updates on behalf the Information Protection (IP) team. Effective today, we have relaunched the original RMS team blog that was on MSDN as the AD RMS Developer's Corner and with a renewed focus on covering developer news and content updates that will interest the developer audience. It's a timely announcement as today marked the 2.0 release to the Microsoft Download Center of the AD RMS SDK and the AD RMS Client .

For more information, see the announcement on the relaunched blog here .

Not to worry if you are a IT professional (i.e. non-developer) who works with rights management technology. This will be your new destination blog for all things of an RMS-type nature. Here's what you have today and in the weeks and months ahead to look forward to...

    • All the your favorite RMS blog posts for IT pros archived in one convenient blog location

I've already tried to make those of you who have found your way here feel right at home by importing the best of the old RMS team blog here as well as the terrific content that Enrique Saggese had posted on his personal blog.

    • More new content updates as it comes online for IT professionals working with AD RMS in Windows Server 2008 R2 as well as Windows Server 2012.

We've been working to update our IT pro documentation in the AD RMS space. recently we added content on the TechNet Wiki about AD RMS disaster recovery such as a short "how to prepare" article on AD RMS disaster prep as well as the full-blown AD RMS disaster recovery guide that applies to Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2.

In case you hadn't heard, Windows Server 2012 Release (RC) Preview is available now for download and trial evaluation. For more details, here's a link to Jeffrey Snover's blog post on Windows Server 2012 RC . If you are curious about what's changed in AD RMS for this release, you can read up about what's new in AD RMS for Windows Server 2012 . You will also want to stay tuned for my next blog post here as I am going to be announcing some more new AD RMS content for IT pros in support of the RC launch.

    • More news as it becomes available about Microsoft's next generation cloud-hosted RMS offering

This blog should also have more information in the weeks and months ahead about the cutting edge new work that the IP team here is heads down on for next generation RMS. Some people have been calling it "RMS online" or "RMS for the cloud".

One thing I can tell you right now is this new offering is already available for testing with the Office 15 Technical Preview. Since the Office 15 Technical Preview is only available for those who are under a non-disclosure agreement, I can't provide you with a public link to where you can download it. But the RMS capabilities within Office online does have a more official name at this point. It's called Windows Azure Active Directory Rights Management and we hope to have more share about that in the very near future, especially for those of you who are looking at Office 365 .

For right now if you want to get a little more acquainted with the Windows Azure AD strategy, I'd encourage you to check out some of what our own identity architect Kim Cameron has in his blog here , or for a third-party view more from the IT professional perspective, you might want to read Active Directory MVP Sean Deuby's recent article in the online version of Windows IT Pro magazine called " Microsoft Active Directory In The Cloud: Windows Azure Active Directory Is Expanding Its Capa... ".

Well, I just wanted to welcome all the IT pros for AD RMS and assure you we have plenty of good news and updates to share with you as well.
