Howdy folks,

We have some exciting news to share. Today, we're introducing the ability for organizations to customize their Windows Azure AD sign in page.

This feature is now in Public Preview, and we encourage you to take it for a spin. It will be built into Azure AD Premium once it comes out of Preview.

When we started working on this feature, we set the following goals:

  • Give organizations the ability to promote their own corporate brand in the end-user experience. With a customized sign in page, Microsoft's product brands (such as Office 365) take a back seat.
  • Supports visual branding and customized text. In addition to customizing logos and images, organizations can display their own Support and Legal information to their end-users.
  • Supports a broad range of devices. Just like the existing sign in pages, our responsive design automatically adapts to any device or screen size. And we've made it super easy to configure customization sets for your international users.
  • Maintain the same level of world-class performance. We store your customization information on our CDN, to ensure that customized sign in pages render just as fast as the existing pages.
  • Increase UX consistency between Windows Azure AD and Windows Server AD. The customization capabilities we're introducing today are consistent with the templates we've released for AD FS on Windows Server 2012R2. And smaller organizations that are "all in" the cloud can now enjoy customization capabilities that used to be reserved to larger, federated organizations.

Examples

Without further ado, let's compare customized and non-customized sign in page. We'll use Office 365 as an example, but the same level of customization will apply when your users sign in to Windows Azure, Windows Intune, or any other website or app that relies on Windows Azure AD as an Identity Provider.

What elements can be customized?

You can customize the logo, the large illustration, and the boilerplate text that's shown at the bottom of the sign in zone. All elements are optional and can be localized separately. More details, as well as a complete how-to guide are available in this TechNet article .

Participate in the Preview

If you want to try out this new set capability, please check out the TechNet article (you'll need to be an Azure AD tenant admin to configure the customization). Note that with the preview bits we're releasing today, end users will only see a customized sign in page when they sign in to their Office 365 webmail using a URL like outlook.com/contoso.com or mail.contoso.com . We'll refresh the Preview in early 2014 to light up other sign in scenarios.

Provide feedback

As always, we're looking forward to your feedback. Please use this forum to provide feedback.

We've received a TON of requests for support for these kinds of custom branding capabilities, so we really hope you'll like them!
