Welcome to the brand new Enterprise Mobility Blog! We all know how consumerization of IT has become one of the hottest topics, and top priorities, of organizations everywhere. At Microsoft, we are delivering a constant set of updates and new solutions to help you enable people within your organization to use the devices they love, while helping you keep compliance with your policies and protect data. We feel enterprise mobility is so important that we wanted to dedicate a blog to it, so we can have deeper conversations with you. We hope you enjoy it and take part in the discussion!
With the kickoff of TechEd today, there’s a lot of exciting news we’re announcing. Hopefully you’ve been able to
watch the keynote
delivered by Brad Anderson, Corporate Vice President, Windows Server and System Center which highlights this news and shows many exciting demos.
We’re doing some really exciting things with Enterprise Mobility. In March, we
announced
the Enterprise Mobility Suite, which provides a comprehensive set of cloud services to manage consumerization – Windows Intune, Azure Active Directory Premium, and Azure Rights Management Services. Building on that momentum, we’re happy to announce the preview of
Azure RemoteApp
, a new cloud service which will enable you to deliver Windows apps to a variety of devices from the cloud, through Remote Desktop Services. We’re also announcing the roadmap for upcoming releases of Windows Intune. Finally, we’re kicking off a series of videos and blogs over the next five weeks – a journey, so to speak – guiding you from developing your hybrid identity solution, managing mobile devices, delivering virtualized apps and desktops, and protecting data, from start to finish.
Microsoft Azure RemoteApp (Preview)
As IT organizations strive to meet the dynamic needs of the business and a fluctuating workforce, they need a flexible service that can deliver applications to a variety of devices and scale quickly when needed with minimal infrastructure costs.
With Azure RemoteApp, we are combining Windows applications and Remote Desktop Services capabilities together on Microsoft Azure,
a brand new cloud service delivering remote applications from Azure, available in preview today.
With Azure RemoteApp, your corporate applications run on
Windows Server
in the Azure cloud. Similar to RemoteApp on-premises, employees access their corporate applications from anywhere and on a variety of devices – Windows, iOS, Android and Mac OS X - via Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). Employees install Microsoft Remote Desktop clients on their Internet-connected laptop, tablet, or phone—and can then access applications as if they were running locally.
Azure RemoteApp helps you to enable your users’ access to their corporate applications from anywhere and on a variety of devices and scale up or down to meet your business needs, without expensive infrastructure costs and management complexity. Applications are never sent to or stored on employee devices, but get centralized on the same trusted and reliable platform used by governments, financial services companies, and other large organizations dealing with sensitive information.
We provide two different deployment choices for this service:
hybrid or cloud deployment
. You can decide whether you would like to integrate the service to their on-premises infrastructure or simply deploy a stand-alone cloud service. It’s up to you.

Upcoming Windows Intune Roadmap
We also shared information about the upcoming releases of Windows Intune. On April 28, we
began rolling out updates
to Intune which provided support for Windows Phone 8.1 and Samsung KNOX Standard support. Updated Company Portal apps for iOS and Android enable people to use their devices to remotely access their Windows PC if configured by the administrator.
This summer, we will be enabling the management of new capabilities in the
Windows 8.1 Update
, including device configuration settings which enable administrators to manage Internet Explorer, Content Rating, and Website Restrictions settings.
Later this year, Intune and Office 365 will deliver protected mobile productivity across Office for iPad, iPhone and Android phones including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook Web Access. Part of the Enterprise Mobility Suite, Intune will also deliver a tool to help customers manage existing iOS and Android line-of-business apps.

Mobile Master Video and Blog Series
To help make these solutions “real” we decided to bring you along on a journey with a typical IT pro whose organization is facing the consumerization challenge head-on. Over the next five weeks, we will follow him as he goes from “just an IT Pro” to the Mobile Master of his organization. Each week we’ll focus on how he uses our enterprise mobility solutions around Hybrid Identity, Mobile Device Management, Desktop Virtualization, and Access and Information Protection with a short video of him explaining the problems he was facing, and how he’s solving the problem with Microsoft. Throughout the rest of the week, we’ll have a detailed blog series on what you can do to get started yourself. Come back throughout the week to learn more about each solution, and become a Mobile Master yourself!
