The concept of remotely accessing desktops and applications is not a new technology. However, with companies investing more and more in BYOD situations and mobility management, desktop virtualization is gaining a new meaning and significance.  We continued our Enterprise Mobility Suite Webinar Series with a look into Microsoft’s newest take on desktop virtualization. Demi Albuz, Senior Product Marketing Manager, discussed how Azure RemoteApp combines years of experience in on premise virtualization situations with the expertise and cloud benefits of Azure. Thomas Willingham, Product Marketing Manager, then demoed how simple it is to deploy and use the service. With employees using their personal devices for work, management of access to corporate resources becomes an important task. There are times when those corporate resources contain very sensitive information. You need a way to provide that information without storing it on an employee’s personal device. The end user experience in accessing that info must also be simple and familiar. Employees won’t use overly complicated processes. That’s why we have invested a lot of time into developing a solution that provides a clean interface and extensive management capabilities. Virtualization with Azure RemoteApp Azure RemoteApp works by focusing on three major competencies. Scaling to meet changing demand – Seasonal workers, road warriors, and new employees can stress your system with unexpected and fluctuating demand. RemoteApp can scale up and down to meet your needs at any time. Enabling employees to work anywhere – Users simply download the client application, enter their credentials and they are ready to work. They will have access to the apps you have provisioned during setup. Safeguarding sensitive corporate applications – Your employees have access to their resources without storing them on their devices. This helps you to protect your sensitive corporate resources. You can deploy Azure RemoteApp in two ways, through the cloud or with a hybrid approach, depending on your needs.
