Howdy folks, Today we’ve got a special treat for you – a quick guest blog post from Simon May, one of our most famous evangelists and a great friend of the Identity team here at Microsoft. We work with Simon a ton to get the word out about Azure Active Directory. Additionally, he’s strong connection to the IT community is a great source of input for us as we work to continually improve our cloud service making sure that it delivers value for our customers and developers. Hopefully you’ve had the opportunity to see some of the video interviews Simon has done recently with members of the Identity PM team. They are a great way to get a chance to hear directly from the people who are designing the service! Best regards, Alex Simons (Twitter: @Alex_A_Simons ) Director of Program Management Microsoft Identity Division ---------------------------- Hello everyone! It’s me, Simon May. The most important technology of my career has been Active Directory.  Back when I started my journey as an admin around 2000, AD was just getting started. Admins I knew and worked with were investigating the groundbreaking ease of admin that came from Active Directory, especially when compared to other directories of the time. I see our industry has entered the next, monumental phase-shift: the move to a cloud-based, enterprise directory, that is designed to make sysadmin professionals productive. As a reader of this blog, you know there are already millions of users, hundreds of thousands of organizations, and billions of authentications happening against Azure AD and it’s something that all sysadmins, IT Ops, Dev/Ops professionals need to understand. That’s why I’m really excited to have the opportunity to work with the great team inside the Microsoft Identity division to bring their story to you. Back when I was getting started with directory’s, I was learning everything from books (hat tip to Mark Minassi @mminasi , thanks for the help). As you no doubt know books can’t really keep up with the release cadence of the cloud, blogs help, but I personally feel I need something more and sysadmins I talk to agree. Time is also at a premium when you’re a busy sysadmin, you need to be able to learn through osmosis, you have 15 minutes at most (pro-tip: that’s 7 when you hit play at double speed!) To that end I’m working with Alex’s team to create a new show on Channel 9, the Azure AD and Identity show . We’ve already published our first four episodes, the overview of Azure AD, you see embedded below, and deeper dives on Azure AD B2B , Azure AD B2C and Azure AD Domain Join for Windows 10 . Our intent with this show is to be “inside the mind” of the people building Azure AD and Identity at Microsoft. That means you get information fast and from the most authoritative source possible: the people building it! I want to know what you think of the show, so we can rapidly adapt to meet your needs. Email me simon.may@microsoft.com , tweet me @simonster , comment on the shows and please, tell us what you need. Simon May , Principle Program Manager, Evangelism, Microsoft
