A few weeks back, I had a chance to sit down with Brad Anderson, GM of Microsoft’s Management and Services Division (the folks who build System Center). We talked for a handful of minutes about virtualization, Ops Manager x-plat extensions, and some strategic developments and perspectives on what’s coming in the near future. Money quote:
“I think it’s kind of ironic that our major competitor in the area of virtualization is not heterogeneous … and Microsoft is.”
Check it out:
I’ve tried to add just enough production value on a video I shot, edited, and published myself (so please forgive its amateur ‘edges’–I’m just figuring this stuff out as I go), but not too much: the point is to keep it relatively informal and low-key, get you more of an inside view of things than what you might typically expect from us.
But I don’t want this to be a one-time deal. In fact, the general idea for this is that periodically–hopefully monthly–Jeff Wettlaufer or other TPMs in the group and I will sit down with Brad and others and just chat informally about what’s going on in the business. Ultimately, we want to make this useful, if not mildly entertaining for you. If you have thoughts on what you’d like to hear about from Microsoft w/r/t System Center, systems management, and our solutions story, go ahead and add your suggestions in the comments, and we’ll see what we can do to line someone up to give you a 5-minute window into their thoughts.
