Presenting beyond the balance sheet

A guide to great presentations for professionals in Finance

Working in the Finance department, you’re probably used to the glaze-eyed stare. That polite but slightly vacant smile that you’ll see if you get going about economic value added or activity based costing with someone outside of your department. You’re probably more comfortable with the tried and true, structured format of the quarterly earnings call, where your audience is waiting for the familiar notes on EBIDTA and PE ratios.

For better or for worse, though, there has been a proliferation in recent years of tools that can help you to visualise the impact of financial drivers beyond the more familiar (and significantly more linear) accounting documents such as a balance sheet or income statement. So what’s the best way to present financial information? Well, that depends. Who’s your audience? Are you presenting in front of an auditorium full of people? Maybe you’re chatting informally with a colleague around the water cooler?

In the fourth and final instalment of our four-part webinar series, Microsoft and Eyeful Presentations help you prepare to present regardless of your environment; or as we call it, your presentation landscape. Whether you’re looking to present in a formal, informal, interactive or remote setting, we give you practical advice on how to connect with your audience.
