Microsoft Cloud for Government: The most complete cloud for the U.S. government

The cloud is transforming our world at an accelerated pace – industries and organizations across the globe are redefining what’s possible when the cloud is behind it all. As enterprises face tough challenges, they also have great opportunities in considering the cloud platform as a method to achieve greater transformation.

Nowhere is this more evident than with U.S. government agencies, as citizen expectations, mandates and executive orders like cloud-first and open government initiatives are accelerating government technology leaders’ move to the cloud. In light of this, and in order to take advantage of the breadth of opportunity, government decision makers need access to comprehensive, secure, enterprise-grade cloud solutions that they can deploy within hybrid environments and at scale.

At our Cloud for Government Summit in Washington, D.C., Microsoft and our CEO, Satya Nadella, took another bold step in showcasing how Microsoft is delivering the industry’s most complete cloud by announcing Microsoft Azure Government is now generally available and that Dynamics CRM Online for Government will be available in January. These solutions join our existing Microsoft Office 365 Government offering to provide the transformational cloud platform that will fuel digital government.

By spanning infrastructure, data, productivity, and business applications, the Microsoft Cloud for Government delivers an unmatched cloud platform for government. It is fully integrated with open source. In fact, nearly 20 percent of the workloads currently running on Azure are Linux. And, our investment in meeting the security and compliance needs of our government customers demonstrates a differentiated commitment – from the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS), to Healthcare Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) to FedRAMP. Take a look at an illustration to better understand that clearly, not all clouds are created equal.

Already, nearly 125 partners are betting on the Microsoft Cloud for Government. From solutions like VIEVU’s Body Camera video storage built on Azure Government, to hybrid cloud partnerships with companies like Accenture, the Microsoft Cloud for Government has significant momentum. Customers are also betting on the platform, with the Department of Labor, the Department of Health and Human Services, the State of Texas, the State of Alabama, and the U.S. Navy all moving to the Microsoft Cloud for Government.
