Learn how you can transform citizen services at SCE

As Kathryn Willson recently wrote, more than 50 of our Microsoft CityNext partners will be with us at Smart City Expo World Congress November 14-17 in Barcelona, Spain. They’ll include partners who specialize in solutions for digital cities.

Everyone expects more from city governments than ever before. With mass urbanization, cities face an ever-increasing demand for citizen services. And people not only want 24/7 access to convenient, 360-degree services, they also want to be part of the services that govern them.

Citizens want to feel as if they can collaborate with a responsive government to address issues. For example, they want to be able to post a picture of a pothole and shortly thereafter see city employees fixing it.

Today’s technologies can help communities of any size—small towns, cities, municipalities, or entire regions—connect governments and citizens. They can also help agencies and departments connect to streamline citizen services.

By taking advantage of modern technologies such as the cloud, mobile solutions, and social networking, cities can engage with their constituents in the responsive ways they expect and efficiently keep up with their growing population’s needs. And by connecting people and information across entities and regions, they can put people at the center of the services they receive.
At Smart City Expo, you’ll see how our Microsoft CityNext partners are helping cities like yours do just that.

For example, our partner Sparked helped the Municipality of Hollands Kroon in the Netherlands make life easier for its residents, while at the time increasing their self-reliance. Citizens can do things like digitally apply and receive a permit, use a special app to indicate the hedge around the corner could use some pruning, or register the birth of their child. What’s more, Hollands Kroon employees are empowered with mobile tools so they can work anywhere and interact more directly with citizens.

We hope to see you at Smart City Expo where you’ll find out how you can digitally transform your citizen services with solutions from Sparked and our other partners.

Meantime, check out our event page for up-to-date details on what Microsoft and our partners are doing at the Expo, to sign up for our pre-day event, and to request a one-on-one meeting with one of our subject matter experts.
