Experience smart urban mobility solutions at ITS World Congress

As part of our commitment to empower cities to tackle their urban mobility and transportation challenges, we’re thrilled to be a sponsor of ITS World Congress. Taking place October 29 – November 2 in Montreal, Canada, it will bring together experts on intelligent transportation from all over the world. At the event, you can learn how smart urban mobility solutions can help your city reduce congestion and energy use, get commuters home faster, and ultimately build a stronger economy and greener city.

Experience how you can digitally transform urban mobility

A highlight of ITS World Congress this year will be the Smart Cities Pavilion, of which Microsoft is a gold sponsor. Many of our forward-thinking Microsoft CityNext partners will be there including Cubic Transportation Systems, Genetec, and CGI. They’ll demonstrate how they can help you digitally transform urban mobility so you can get people where they want to go faster and safer—while providing a great experience along the way.

Our urban mobility partners are part of our vast partner ecosystem that’s integral to CityNext, our initiative to empower cities to become more sustainable, prosperous, and inclusive. They’re taking advantage of the cloud, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI) and more to offer smart, connected solutions that can help your city meet its 21st-century transportation needs. With CityNext solutions, you can optimize traffic flow and journey management, enhance parking and revenue systems, and efficiently operate your fleets and infrastructure.

Learn about data sharing for smart, connected transportation

At ITS World Congress, we’ll also be leading a panel on technology and policy approaches for data sharing in a smart city ecosystem. To make transportation truly intelligent and connected, we need to bring together disparate data sets—from transit usage to accidents and crime reports to ride sharing demand. Yet the obstacles to share this data for common analysis are enormous—not just between the public and private sectors, but also between different agencies and departments.

What are some best practices to overcome these challenges? How can technology help? What type of policies are required? Are there any successes?

I’m excited to be on the panel with urban mobility thought leaders to explore answers to those questions. For my part, I’ll share the Microsoft vision for a trusted data platform—in a safe and secure cloud—where cities could bring together public and private information to help them enable smart urban mobility for their community. The key is being able to do so while satisfying privacy and trust requirements for organizations and citizens.

The panel will take place on November 1 in the Smart City Pavilion. I hope to see you there!
