Microsoft Government Cloud Forum 2017

Cloud computing, mobile devices, the internet of things (IoT) and the increasing digitization of information and processes in a hybrid computing environment presents new challenges for government leaders hoping to modernize the way they securely meet and exceed mission goals and provide services to citizens.

On Oct. 17, in Washington, D.C., we will host the sixth annual Microsoft Government Cloud Forum where we will share our innovative perspectives on how to navigate the ongoing digital transformation process under way today throughout government. We will discuss best practices that will allow you to embrace the cloud on your own terms in a hybrid world, allowing seamless integration with your current infrastructure and the ability to decide what applications and data will be on-premises and which ones will be in the cloud.

We’ll show how integrated technologies that are key for digital transformation projects such as artificial intelligence, big data and advanced analytics, IoT, blockchain, productivity and digital workplace technologies, among others, are and can be used to quickly solve some once perceived difficult challenges.  For example, we’ll show how we are democratizing AI by infusing these capabilities at the core of our applications, then providing them to developers through our cognitive services AI supercomputing and making that available to anyone, via the cloud.

Finally, we want to make sure that government mission owners understand how to infuse innovative technology into their organizations. We are delivering five mission focused afternoon tracks that will highlight best practices for using technology to impact mission and citizen services, including: Modernizing Government Services, Transformational Services, IT Modernization through the Cloud, Improving Cybersecurity and a special, invite-only track for Department of Defense organizations.

Agenda highlights

U.S. Public Sector vice president Gail Thomas will host the daylong event, which kicks off with morning keynote sessions featuring Microsoft engineering executives Tom Keane, Ron Markezich, James Phillips and Mark Russinovich discussing how to use cloud technology strategically to transform and improve federal, state and local government operations. We’ll also share where Azure, Azure Government, Office 365 and other trusted solutions are headed in the future including our  DoD Impact Level 5 Provisional Authorization (PA) cloud platform, the only approved DISA L5 cloud platform for infrastructure, platform and productivity services.

Other agenda highlights include:

  • Department of Veterans Affairs’ CIO Jack Bates discussing the agency’s recent success in enabling veterans to access healthcare information that is both clear and easy to understand through Access to Care, which was built on Azure Government and SQL Server Access to Care is a finalist in the 2017 GCN dig IT Awards, which showcase excellence in government IT.
  • Updates on Microsoft’s government cloud services, including Azure Government, and the real-world example of the State of Virginia’s vision for using technology to address the opioids epidemic.

Network with Microsoft, partners and peers

In addition to engaging with the Microsoft team, many of our government-focused partners also will be on hand to share how they’re helping agencies better use technology to deploy high-impact, cloud-powered improvements in citizen services, administrative efficiencies and staff productivity. We’ll also provide examples of government organizations that are responding to the current demand to deliver services efficiently and ensure that employees have the tools they need to be productive and make the right decisions faster.

Of course, one of the key benefits of attending the exclusive Government Cloud Forum is the peer-to-peer interaction with fellow government CIOs, other senior IT decision-makers and information security chiefs. Hundreds of leaders from federal as well as state and local governments will be on hand to network, exchange ideas, and discuss how they’re making advances and delivering services more efficiently and effectively.

The Microsoft Government Cloud Forum is the best place to learn and become inspired about the latest business and government digital transformations that are empowering agencies to innovate, achieve their missions and make government work for citizens.
