See how you can transform the care continuum
Microsoft Health gave a presentation at IoT Solutions World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, at the end of October. It was exciting to see so many innovative IoT solutions presented there, especially those of our partner HCL, which won a 2016 IoT Solutions Award in the category of “Best Testbed”, for its industrial IoT Surgical Track & Trace solution, IoTWoRKS.
IoTWoRKS is built entirely on the Microsoft cloud platform and can be seen in person at the upcoming HIMSS annual conference and exhibition in Orlando, Florida, where HCL will be showcasing it in one of the conference’s 20 innovative booths.
The IoT-enabled surgical kit inventory management solution essentially can help health organizations track a surgical kit box to know where it is and what’s in it. It’s a great example of how organizations can connect smart medical devices and equipment to the Microsoft Cloud to help improve operational efficiency and reduce inventory costs.
At HIMSS17, there will be displays of IoT solutions for remote patient monitoring, such as those from Microsoft Health partner Cognizant. Health organizations are using its solutions to help them empower patients and transform care. Case in point: Kaiser Permanente is working with Cognizant to pilot a way to give patients—such as expectant mothers, diabetics, and people with Alzheimer’s disease—the choice to participate in remote monitoring in their homes. The pilot also aims to empower clinicians with better insight into health conditions through real-time access to data. Another exciting Microsoft Health partner that can help with remote patient monitoring that will be in featured in a HIMSS booth this year is MedApp. They offer telemedicine solutions for monitoring heart function of cardiac patients.
