Hershey’s and the cloud: a digital recipe for sweet success

Empowering people to achieve more is core to Microsoft’s mission and something I’m very passionate about. As a fan of REESE’s Peanut Butter Cups and so many more of Hershey’s treats, I find the work The Hershey Company is doing very inspiring.

With an already long history of innovation, they keep the consumer and the shopper at the forefront of every decision they make. And by embracing the latest technology innovations in the cloud, they are transforming their business into the modern, connected workplace that Hershey employees need to satisfy consumer demand and more easily support their long-standing principle of sharing happiness.

This includes better connecting people to the information and systems they need, enabling creative collaboration in real-time, and improving the quality and speed of decision-making. It also means using the cloud and advanced analytics to optimize operations—believing that better analytics, better manufacturing and better customer insights all lead to a better consumer experience.

As one incredible example of the power of the Internet of Things and predictive analytics, The Hershey Company anticipates saving half a million dollars by connecting and optimizing just one element on their Twizzlers licorice factory production line. Imagine the possibilities as they apply this in other plants, then to packaging, transportation and customer behavior!

For The Hershey Company this digital transformation is a recipe for success. As Carlos Amesquita, Hershey’s CIO and a fan of Kit Kat Dark, recently said, “the future for Hershey is very exciting—with Microsoft cloud solutions, we are in control of our digital journey, connecting everyone to work better together and share our goodness.”

Nothing fuels my passion for helping our customers achieve more than comments like this. I encourage you to learn from The Hershey Company by watching the below video. You can also hear more from their CIO in this blog post, and read their full story here.

We look forward to helping you in your digital transformation journey.
